Flash giveaway #4

When did you first consider yourself a writer?

When I first got published for real. I ghostwrote a middle grade novel for American Girl called End of the Race. It was about greyhound racing. (Later it was sold to Penguin as book #12 in the Vet Volunteers series). But my interest kept pushing me to write for older people. So then I got into writing YA, and now new adult.

When and why did you begin writing?

Like Sienna did in Model Position, I started as an artist. But I was always writing on the side—like always. Even when I drew or painted I was always creating stories. The first serious thing I wrote was a sci-fi novella in 6th grade that my teacher Xeroxed and passed out to all of my classmates. That was so cool.

When did you start writing? Or if you haven’t yet, have you ever thought about it? Winner gets a Art of Love Coffee mug.

  2. Ha ha ha ha - I remember Xeroxing!
I was writing before Kindergarten. I have only been published in school things, and maybe an OpEd now and then, back when in college. I write legendary letters to friends when I take the time.
I write better by hand, maybe because when I use a keyboard I have furry helpers. Ideas, words flow better with pen and paper.

  4. I have thought about it, but I do not handle criticism well and fear that I would go to bed in tears every night.

  5. Great answers so far. Keep 'em coming! And for anyone who really wants to write, you should lose the fear and, as Nike say, Just Do It!

  7. I've thought about it a lot.. when I was a kid, it was a dream to have a book published one day. Since then, I went into college for business and have been working long hours every day in sales.. I would still like to try one day though. All the indie authors I meet on blog tours give me hope that I could do it too :)

I have a closet full of bags and boxes of things I have done and now with technology I now have loads and loads of have digital files! None of them published though, Iguess I just have to one day believe in myself again, which I slowly am now that my life is looking brighter than it had been over the last 10 yrs or so. But I am getting there, slowly but surely! psychologypearl03@gmail.com

  11. I have always written but mostly for myself. I started to write a blog to share the stories of my cat Doom. When he passed at 8 months I was devastated and many of my followers asked me to write a book. so I did although nothing like you ladies/gentleman it was a book of stories about my cat that I had published in 2009. I felt so much better dealing with my sadness when I put it down in a book..
