Ann Jacobs Launch Party - Giveaway #2 with Joey W Hill

Welcome to Joey W Hill!

So glad to be participating in Ann's launch party, especially since Fatal Affair has a short cameo by one of my favorite characters, Gray, from Bittersweet Homecoming. Ann knows how much I love that book and him, so I like to pretend she included him just for me (wink).

I'm also delighted to introduce you all to Willing Sacrifice, the latest in my Knights of the Board Room series. And don't worry - all the books in this series stand alone, each one focusing on a different member of the K&A corporate team, so you can read this one with only minor spoilers from the other books. Plus, you get to meet all the other guys and see if you'd like to read their books (smile). If you think you'd want to start with one of the other books, though, you can read excerpts and blurbs for all of them here - http://www.storywitch.com/series-kbr

Congratulations on your release, Ann - I hope you get many sales and wonderful reviews for the book! As always, it's a privilege to be your critique partner. Ann has given me much wonderful business advice over the years, and streamlined my manuscripts when they get too wordy. A talented and lovely lady on every level. :>

Janet Albright prefers her men submissive, her relationships confined to a club environment. Which is why her attraction to former Navy SEAL Maxwell Ackerman doesn't make a lot of sense. There isn't a submissive bone in his honed, muscular body, suggesting that her interest in Kensington & Associate's head limo driver is best indulged as a private fantasy. The problem is, after a crisis situation reveals a different side of them both, the attraction becomes mutual and undeniable.

They take the plunge, willing to see if the give-and-take of their unexpected relationship can satisfy their deepest desires. Unfortunately, ghosts from their past might take the reins from them both, destroying the balance of power before their love can find a way to tip the scales.

  1. I haven't read any of the Knights of the Boardroom yet. I actually just finished Nature of Desire series the other week. I had picked up Rough Canvas and not read any of the other ones until last month. It helped me kick a major mm only reading curve I have had for over year. Thank you for helping Ann celebrate her new release!!

    1. Ha! Finally figured out my tech issue - I was using the wrong browser. Sorry to be late, but I was having difficulty posting responses. So this is the fifth time I've posted this to you, Bobbie, but it will the first time you'll be able to see it - technology can be a pain sometimes (lol).

Anyhow, so glad you've been enjoying the NOD series, but I completely understand about the male/male thing. I'm a male/male reader myself and it is HARD to tear yourself away from the boys. They're just too delicious. Rough Canvas is one I still go back and read quite often, as well as a couple of my free novella vignettes featuring Daegan and Gideon of the vampire series (happy sigh).

Oh, and on that note, if you love the NOD, there are also a couple of free novella/short download vignettes revisiting those characters as well, specifically Violet and Mac (The Baby Shower) and Tyler and Marguerite (Tyler Tied Up). They're on the fan forum, and access info is here - www.storywitch.com/community.

Ann is a treasure. I'm always so grateful she'll wade through my manuscripts, it's wonderful to be able to be part of her launch party cheering section!

    1. Lee, so glad you were able to join all of us - and your son's response had me grinning. Kids say the darnedest things - you remember that section of Reader's Digest? Please tell him thank you very much for his well wishes - I wish I could go sit in a corner until it comes out, but I'd probably bite my fingernails off if I had to think about all of you reading it and wondering what you'll think...etc etc etc...yep, authors are neurotic. It's what we do.

Ann and I go way back, to the Enchained anthology with Jaid Black. That's actually where we met each other. She had questions for me about BDSM, and I discovered she could take my long, rambling paragraphs and make them far less rambling (lol) - the friendship has been going ever since!

    2. Thank you for having Joey! My son laughed, and said your welcome! I know the nail biting is not going to stop just because I tell you not to worry! I'll love it! You haven't written anything that I don't own two copies of. One on the ipad and hardcover! It's way I follow you around like a little puppy(LOL). No worries...it was be great!

Nothing like meeting in the weirdest places and becoming life time friends...it's awesome!

    3. Isn't that true? I've found that's one of the very nicest things about this writing life. The relationships that have grown out of meeting readers and authors who all share a love of books! We all love wonderful stories and great characters. And pffft...actually, I'm the one who follows YOU guys around (note my clever form of stalking where I only make it SEEM like you're following ME around). Without you all, writing the stories wouldn't be near as much fun.

    4. STALKER!!!!!!!! I think it works both ways! What a wonderful way to be(wink).

  3. Joey, I just told my son what I was doing. I told him that you were over here playing and helping and celebrating. And that I enter your giveaway. He remembers your launch party(lol). He asked if it was yours, I said "no", but you have another book coming out this month. He says, "Ann, good luck and I hope that your book does well." And he asked about you having another launch party, I told him the truth, I said, "I don't know." So, this is from my child to you Joey. "You can go and sit in the corner until your book comes out, and you have your own launch party. Then I will wish you good luck on your book and I hope that it goes crazy just like all your others." I'm thinking that my child has my weird sense of humor. What do you think? I know, I know...I'm going to my corner!

  4. Love all your books! But Mac will always be my number one guy...just love him!!! I've read Natural Law probably 10 times.

Thanks for the giveaway, I don't have any of the Vampire Queen books, I think I'm afraid I'll get addicted to them too!

    1. Shannon, you must come over to the fanged side...we have cookies, you know, just like Darth (laughter). Actually we have better than cookies. We have Lord Mason, Daegan (he's a lord in the vampire world, too but threatens to rip out the throat of anyone who uses the address), Gideon (who calls him Lord just to yank his chain), Jacob, Devlin...(wink). Oh, just like I mentioned to Bobbie above, if you love Mac, be sure to go find the free Baby Shower vignette on my fan forum. It's all about him and Violet! www.storywitch.com/community And if you've already checked that out, just ignore me.

  5. Joey, just popping in to say hello and check out Ann's work. She is new to me so now I will have to give her a try since she comes highly recommended by you. I love these promotions and blog tours because we get introduced to new authors we would not have found on our own. Please don't enter me for a giveaway since I have all of your works. I love Max and Janet in Willing Sacrifice, it's a fantastic book and I recommend it to anyone wanting to sample your work. Great luck all on the launch party and blog tour.

    1. Betty, so glad you could stop by! Bittersweet Homecoming is one of my favorite Ann books, as you could probably tell from that first comment I made. That was the first "handicapped" hero book I read, and it inspired me to try my own further down the line, with Dana of Honor Bound, Dale of Unrestrained, and one of these days I'll write Rory's story (from Rough Canvas) as well.

Ann has been a continuous help to me throughout the years. She's incredibly savvy about the writing business as well as a great critique partner - I've told her before if she ever decided to be an editor, she'd be in high demand!

    1. I know - Ann goes right for the steamy hot from the very beginning (wink). And she introduced me to how sexy football players can be.

Thanks, Rhea! Fingers crossed. I'm reading through the final galley of Divine Solace now to turn back in to my editor on Friday, and I just can't wait to share Lyda, Gen and Noah with you guys. My husband should have their cover posted under the Nature of Desire series page on my website sometime today. It's lovely!

  7. Love all of Joeys series. She is such an amazing writer. I'm always sucked into her stories and can't help but fall in love with her characters. Ann is also a favorite of mine. You can't go wrong with both ladies, they are always my first two I recommend.

    1. Steph, thank you!! I work hard on that. Admittedly, it's more than a bit of self-interest, because when I write a book, I spend A LOT of time with those characters. If they don't win ME over, it's like being stuck at an endless dinner party with people who don't interest you a bit - in short, hell on earth (lol).

So glad you've fallen in love with so many of them as well. There's no better compliment for a writer.

  9. Such an amazing book Joey, I love all your work, in fact just let someone borrow Something About Witches, thought it might be a good intro book, guess I'll find out!

    1. That is a good choice, particularly if they don't want to jump into the BDSM deep end right off. (We'll slowly luuurrree them there - diabolical cackle). I love Derek and Ruby's story. Of course Derek grabbed me from the moment he introduced himself to me as a sorcerer wearing a cowboy hat and dragonskin boots.

Oh, side note, one of the ladies just told me she'd seen Something About Witches accidentally placed in the YA section of a store. No doubt because of the unfortunate cover of the second book (grrr...the publisher's marketing department was going through an "everything must look like Twilight/Hunger Games" phase during that time). But ah well. I still love that second book (In the Company of Witches), and the design of the cover is beautiful - just more appropriate for a Young Adult, since the models look like teenagers, rather than a 1300 year old Dark Guardian sorcerer and mid-thirties succubus/witch bordello owner. Snort!

  11. Congratulations to Ann Jacobs on her new release! She's a new author for me but if Joey is recommending her books I'll have to give em a try.
I haven't read Willing Sacrifice yet, I'm still making my way through the Kensington men :) mrwhiskas24(at)yahoo(dot)com

    1. Sarah, and making your way through the Kensington men is a nice chore to have (wink). Ann doesn't ramble about like I do. She goes right for the hot from the beginning, and her heroes are always compelling, alpha guys in a variety of professions that you don't always see in romance (football players, Texas oil men, etc). While yes, you sometimes see those professions represented, it's usually just a label slapped on a hero, where you don't get to learn all that much about what those professions entail. She gives you that view, which I really like. Hope you find a lot of new reads with her! And when you get to Willing Sacrifice, hope you like Janet and Max as well!
